The Side Curl is a somatic exercise that relaxes the sides of the body and allows it to regain balance and natural functioning. When we suffer an injury, most of the time, it’s on one side of the body only, on the left or right, rarely in the middle. To protect us, the tissues and muscles around the wound contract and pull our body to one side. We tilt to the left or to the right. Even years later, the muscles around the wound can still be contracted and shortened. This leads to compensation, postural imbalances, tension and chronic pain.
